Ottawa, July 24, 2025 – Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), has restarted biometric collection services in Sudan.
These services had been on hold, making it challenging for individuals who could not leave Sudan to complete the steps required for their applications to come to Canada. The renewed partnership will now allow certain applicants to provide their biometrics inside Sudan.
Biometric collection will be offered by appointment only. IOM will directly contact people with active applications under the family-based permanent residence category or Canada’s refugee resettlement programs to arrange appointments. In some cases, IOM may also coordinate medical examinations, aiming to schedule both biometrics and medical checks during the same visit when possible.
Only those who receive a direct invitation from IOM and have a confirmed appointment will be able to provide their biometrics or attend a medical exam.
For more details on biometrics, including the process and preparation tips, visit the official IRCC information page.
