July 30, 2025

Recent policy changes have been implemented affecting caregiver pathways and work permit processing. Key updates include:

Caregiver Pilot Program Modifications Changes were introduced in June 2024 to the Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker pilot programs, including:

  • Reduction of required work experience from 12 months to 6 months
  • Expansion of eligible work experience to include:
    • Experience gained outside Canada
    • Experience obtained up to 36 months prior to application submission
  • Clarification that applicants may only submit work experience documentation once for permanent residence consideration

Work Permit Processing Updates Adjustments have been made to accommodate situations where permanent residence applicants under these pilot programs satisfy work experience criteria before obtaining their occupation-specific open work permits.

Bridging Work Permit Changes The A75 bridging open work permit guidelines have been updated to align with the revised caregiver pilot requirements.

Provincial Nominee Program Updates For non-Express Entry Provincial Nominee applicants, documentation requirements have been clarified regarding the absence of stage 1 decision letters.

Quebec Program Adjustments Eligibility criteria for Quebec skilled workers now encompasses Quebec investor program applicants who have received acknowledgment letters from immigration authorities.

These changes reflect ongoing efforts to streamline caregiver immigration pathways and improve processing efficiency across various immigration programs.
